Trip to Vienna

Coffee Houses

Click to zoom Vienna is not just know for its Wiener Schnitzel but also for its typical coffee houses and its multifarious coffees. We liked them very much and visited at least one each day.

The most different experience we made in the  'Havelka' in the Dorotheegasse. The owner is a ~70 year old man. When we entered the coffee house, the room was packed. So the owner brought us to a table where only two people were sitting and two chairs were available. We sat at the table and had a look in the menu.

After the waiter passed us twice and hasen't even been looking at us I allowed myself to ask him to order. He just replied in a typical viennese way that he just has two hands and he already saw us, but can't do not more than working. This was about the opposite service I was used in the States... But to be honest - it was a funny experience. So don't miss this when you will be in Vienna.
